BIGGEST CHOCOLATE FONDUE PARTY Ever!!

Hey!!

You are invited to the BIGGEST CHOCOLATE FONDUE PARTY Ever!!

When - Wed 26th November
What Time - From 3.30pm onwards (or straight after school)
Where - 40 Philip Street St Marys ... Youth Centre entry via the back carpark

It will cost you $5 (or a gold coin donation), but that is a small price to pay for the cause you will be supporting... and in exchange you get lots of goodies to dip in chocolate (yum!!), a live performance, a photo-shoot and LOTS of laughs.

We will be supporting an organisation called STOP THE TRAFFIK ... they are a global movement working to combat the fastest growing global crime, Human Trafficking. Around the world men, women and children are being treated as commodities—something to be bought, sold, and enslaved.

What is Human Trafficking?
TRAFFICKING IS…to be deceived or taken against your will, bought, sold and transported into slavery for sexual exploitation, sweat shops, child brides, forced begging, sale of human organs, farm labour, domestic servitude.

TRAFFICKING IS…where family members and friends deceive parents in poverty-stricken areas to release their children or sell them for as little as $20 each, selling them on to local gangmasters or serious organised international trafficking rings.

TRAFFICKING IS…a growing trade that earns twice as much as Coca Cola. It is estimated that 27 million people are held in slavery world-wide today. That means 2-4 million men, women and children are trafficked across borders and within their own country every year, and more than one person is trafficked across borders EVERY MINUTE! The Majority of those trafficked are women and children. The average age of a trafficked victim is 14.

TRAFFICKING IS…where victims usually suffer repeated physical abuse, fear, torture and threats to families to break their spirits and turn them into saleable commodities. a person can be sold and trafficked many times.

Why a Chocolate Fondue Party?? Most of the Chocolate that finds its way into our shops and homes is made with cocoa from plantations that use trafficked children. The only guarantee that you have that the chocolate that you have purchased has not involved trafficked children, is chocolate certified with a 'Fair Trade' sticker. You will find the sticker (as pictured below) on your chocolate bar or block.

The more of this chocolate that you buy, the bigger the statement you are making to other major chocolate companies that we want a 'Traffick-Free' guarantee on all of their chocolate. It is just not right that children can be trafficked into forced labour just so that we can eat chocolate.

Creative Workshop

This week we had a colouring comp, pix were sketched by the talented Miss Jessica Pogmore ... and the winners were Karlee Lalor and myself (yes I nominated myself).

We also plugged in some microphones and had a kareoke session. Not to mention the crazy amazing songs that we came up with. Nancy-Pants showed us some dancing, and there was more than enough snacks to keep us energized!

All in all - a fun hangout time.

Don't forget ... our ArtSpace is coming soon...

Creative Workshop - Diff*rent is Beautiful

We are discovering a new theme at Creative Workshop for this Month … Different is Beautiful.

Each one of us is UNIQUE … often we can label each other by our differences rather than appreciate them. UNITY is a place where we come to realize the value of our differences, and how each of us can use our differences to work together towards a common goal. We NEED each others differences to work together in harmony towards the GREATER GOOD of Humanity!!

Together we can make a DIFFERENCE.

Our DIFFERENCES woven together can make a BEAUTIFUL picture!!

Creative Workshop - BASE

BASE...

is our new project based on the Creative Workshop theme 'Diff*rent is Beautiful'. Base is a short film in the making that will explore the ways in which we can respond to each others differences with two very different outcomes ... the main aim is to discover the best outcome, where we value each others differences rather than oppose them, and where we need each others differences working together in harmony to acheive a common outcome for a common cause aka UNITY!

This project will include;
Script-writing
Drama
Set Design
Costume, Hair, Makeup
Film
Film-Editing
Graphic Design
Marketing

BASE
by Justin McMaster, Jessica Pogmore, Jess Alvarado, Sophia McDonald, Sherry Howlett

BASE Update

Characters so far...
*Bubbly Girl - Naturally happy, loving person who constantly shows it
*Funky Gangsta - Basketball Player, up himself
*Nerd - Library, knows too much according to every one else
*Shy - Real passionate, caring & bubbly person who hides in the shadows
*Disabled - Xathletic person who broke his spine, now gets pushed aside
*Class Clown - Person who is insecure with himself and makes every 1 laugh 2 hide it
Plastic - Paris Hilton wanna be has no money so acts rich so people don't find out

How do they come to understand each others differences? They have to get in each others shoes ... swap positions

Script ideas so far...
*Scene showing each character in their own setting (maybe a Q&A interview setting)
*Each character ends up in detention ... this is where they oppose each others differences, make fun of each other

How do they end up on detention?
*Crunchy pie, plastic in the oven

What do they do while they are on detention?
What do they think of each others differences?
What happens in detention (or other setting) that causes them to see the value of each others differences?

Jess Review - Wed 21st May

jess al.
This week on C+I, we did “her eyes are captivating”. This was meant to show girls that their eyes are a window to their soul, they not only there to give them sight and look good. So we did crazy eye make up! Jennifer was a beautiful peacock, Shelly had smoky blue eyes and Carlie had three colours on her eyes. Each girl is different and beautiful in her own way…. Justin McMaster also made a guest appearance, what a week!!!!

We also had coffee club, which allowed us to bond and get to know each other better while drinking capachinoes, made by our very own Belinda Payne!

APRIL - Review

C+I Review - April

My favourite moments from this month has been the make overs & photo shoots ... where the girls have been transformed and made beautiful. Thanks Karlee, Jess, Sarah, Kass & Jess-wa for being our lovely angels.

Even Limotasi and a guy named Guy joined in with all the fun.

We have seen some amazing artwork by bradley and some great personal interviews on video - with our wonderful interviewer ... Kass! She was so cool at it!!

I'm so happy to see so many of our beautiful indigenous people involved in this creative workshop

its just been a lot of fun getting creative, and stay tuned because there's so much more to come ... Jess is coming up with a plan for 'She is captivating' which we hope to make into a documentary, book & post card series. And don't worry guys, we need your help with this one too.

Thanks to every one who has been contributing to Create & Inspire! I look forward to getting creative this May!!

Love Shez + Jess

Jess Review - Wed 30th April

Create and inspire April 30th
This week in c+I we decided to get creative with face paint, and decided to paint some of the kids faces and interviewed a couple of them too. All of this is a part of a series called “she is captivating”. From this the girls and boys shared their dreams, goals and shared a couple of encouraging words about each other. This allowed the girls to get closer and know how amazing they are. The boys how ever struggled a little, with the answering the questions but did a great job!

Jess Review - Wed 16th April

This week in create and inspire, we were recording some footage for a new short film “she is captivating”. I wore a mask and tried to scare people, it sort of worked. I was interviewing a couple of the boys and asking them questions like, what do you look for in a woman? And what captures your attention? There where a few new boys to C+I and they loved my mask too. In conclusion you’d be surprised at what guys really think about women (in a good way of course)

Jess Review - Wed 9th April 2008

create and inspire ran very well. We did a make over (crazy hair) photo shoot and recorded some footage of the making. All the girls got along with each other and had a lot of fun. All smiles and laughing. Limo realized his hair looks awesome straight and is thinking of doing it like that for the formal. The kdis were happy, they laughed and gained confidence with the way they looked, even though it was totally different and crazy

the photoshoot...

A couple of weeks ago we focussed on having VALUE and being UNIQUE. The girls enjoyed a make-over and a photo shoot. Here are some of the higlights...
